$90 Million Private Hospital Opens in Adelaide’s East

A new $90 million private hospital has opened in Eastwood, offering a dedicated short-stay facility for surgical patients across orthopaedics, ophthalmology, plastics and general surgery.

Eastwood Private Hospital includes 51 inpatient beds and six large operating theatres equipped with the latest surgical and patient care technologies. Located on the eastern edge of the Adelaide parklands, the facility is expected to treat more than 7,000 patients each year.

Designed for day and short-stay surgery, the hospital includes a suite of digital and robotic systems to support surgical planning and delivery, as well as bedside patient monitoring and hospital workflow. Among the technologies in use are AI-assisted surgical navigation, electronic health records, and HEPA-fi ltered air circulation systems in patient areas.

The hospital also features private rooms, an on-site café, and almost 300 car parks to support ease of access for patients, visitors and staff . A dedicated patient drop-off zone is located near the main entrance.

In addition to surgical services, Eastwood Private Hospital offers on-site access to radiology, pathology, physiotherapy and podiatry, as well as 24-hour medical coverage.

A digital app developed in partnership with US-based Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company (HOPCo) will be offered to patients to support their care before, during and after surgery. The tool is designed to improve patient engagement and recovery through structured education and real-time guidance.

The hospital will also operate a research and education division — the Eastwood Research Institute — to support clinical research and provide educational opportunities for health professionals, students and community referrers. Activities will include patient and referrer education events and observation opportunities in theatre.

The opening of Eastwood Private Hospital represents one of the largest private healthcare infrastructure investments in South Australia in recent years.
