Dr Nicholas Smith is a specialist hand, wrist, and plastic surgeon based in Adelaide, South Australia. He completed his training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery through SA Health before undertaking advanced subspecialty training in hand and wrist surgery.

Nick was awarded the prestigious Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Marjorie Hooper Scholarship, which he used to undertake a fellowship in complex arthroscopic hand and wrist surgery with Dr Jeff Ecker in Perth, Western Australia. He has since completed supervised fellowships at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital, and joined GRIP Surgery as a partner in 2023.

His subspecialty focus includes peripheral nerve surgery, tendon reconstruction, arthroscopic wrist surgery, CMC and small joint arthroplasty, and fracture and bony reconstruction of the hand and wrist. He treats both adult and paediatric patients.

Nick holds public appointments at The Royal Adelaide Hospital and Women’s and Children’s Hospital. He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Australian Hand Surgery Society, and the Asia-Pacific Wrist Association. He serves on the Australian Hand Surgery Society Research Committee and Section 11 Committee, and is Secretary of the South Australian Hand Surgery Society.
