Overnight Surgery / Procedure

My overnight stay at Eastwood Private Hospital

Inpatient Unit

The clinical area is overseen by senior nursing staff. Your nursing staff will introduce themselves at the commencement of their shift. Feel free to speak with them at any time with any concerns or questions you may have.

Staff Handover

Staff handover between shifts will take place by your bedside.  We encourage patients and carers to be involved in staff handover at these times. A communication board is in each patient room.  On this board your nurses and others in your care team write updated information and plan for the day.

Inpatient Room

Our inpatient rooms provide the perfect level of comfort for you to rest and recover from your surgery. Our hospital will be much quieter than other hospitals due to the “silent” nurse call bell, allowing for greater rest and recuperation.  Whilst nearly all rooms are private rooms, you may be placed in a double room if you require closer observation by our nursing staff.

Television

Your television is more than a television.  It comes with games and other applications installed for your entertainment.

Wi-Fi

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available for all of our patients for the duration of your stay

Meals

Eastwood Private Hospital will provide a choice of meals and to supply special diets where it is in the interest of your medical care. You will be asked to select meals for the duration of your stay.

Food or alcoholic drinks should not be brought to you by visitors without the permission of your nurse.

Visitors

Presence of friends and family is vital to your healing process.  We have an open, flexible policy on visiting and will accommodate your needs.  There may be occasions where the staff may ask your visitor /family to step out of the room for a short period when medical treatment or rest is required.

Patient and Visitor Facilities

There are tea/coffee making facilities in the discharge lounge adjacent to the courtyard and the pantry at the southern end the Ward on Level 4. Please take care when moving around the hospital with hot drinks.

Emergency Procedures

The hospital is fitted with a modern smoke and fire detection system.  In the unlikely event of an emergency occurring do not panic. Return to your room and remain in or near your bed until you are instructed to leave by a fire officer or member of staff, who are all trained to handle emergency situations.
